Hello - this is how one contacts a person directly, out of sight of those who peruse the common network. It's called a 'private channel', if I recall.
Regarding a weapon, I feel you may once again need to be more specific. I've recently learned of firearms, and that they're quite common where some here have come from. Within my own realm, most wielded swords.
The best answer regardless of what form of weapon is likely to consult Mana on the matter - she operates beyond the purview of any particular god, and is capable of offering a great many things that elude this world otherwise. In exchange, she asks only for tokens. You'll find these tokens throughout your time here. (All of which surely raises further questions, but little is known of Mana's workings and you certainly aren't here for my wild speculation.)
If a sword or something like it would be sufficient, there is a swordsmith - Tsukikage - who does fine work.
Regarding areas which should be avoided, the first to mind is the town of Dyster. The fog weighs heavily there, and by my understanding it's somewhat dangerous for those not affiliated with the Fog God.
I also recommend caution in the town of Kulen, should the monstrous form you take be visibly inhuman. Kulen's residents are, understandably, quite wary of us.
And while this may be difficult, since most of the free lodgings offered to new arrivals are within the city, but I recommend steering clear of Bavan at any sign of the fog. All manner of dangerous, mind-altering circumstances come with the fog, and most hit Bavan quite a bit harder than anywhere else on the peninsula.
Regarding public citizens of note, I admit that my insight is limited by the short few months that I've spent here so far, but -
The man called Javert, for one. A lawman for those like us, and possessing of some manner of prison, by my understanding. Some see his choices as overly drastic. More concerningly, he speaks with bold eloquence in unwavering support of the Fog God, in a way which those new to this land might be compelled to follow blindly.
The man called Rafe is another - he has done little specifically of note beyond the formation of a committee to come to consensus on how larger-scale matters should be handle. Little has come of it yet, but I've seen no other proper political machination in my time here, so it seemed worthy of mention.
A man who goes by 'Hawkeye' runs a public clinic for those like us. He seems to be somewhat of a public figure, though I myself have had no interaction with him.
Relevant to more recent events - in the month prior to this one, two individuals attempted to remove the Fourth God's power and return it to the Fog God, from whom it was originally stolen. One was a Fog Priest by the name of Fiddleford. The other, a man who supposedly rallied against the Fog God, before that point - Obi-Wan Kenobi. It isn't yet known if the Fourth God's brief loss of power has any lasting effects. If it does, now you've been given context.
That's all which comes to mind. If you have further questions, I'll do my best to answer them.
( ....but a minute or so later, likely while the last message is still being read, )
Forgive me, I realize now that I've yet to introduce myself.
My name is Xiao Xingchen. Just 'Xingchen' is fine.
<PieceOfSith> I DO i appreciate u giving him all dis dank info
Firearms aren't really my style, so I would like to hear more about the swordsmith you mentioned. And Mana, is this the witch that I've heard of that can summon items from other realms?
I haven't learned much of this "Fog God" you mentioned. Is that the entity responsible for bringing all of us here? Are its followers inherently hostile?
If you don't recommend Bavan has a place to stay, what alternatives do you recommend? I can handle myself in combat, but without a weapon it's best to avoid trouble if it can be helped.
[He's going through the paragraphs of information one by one and responding as such, so when he gets to the mention of Obi-Wan, Starkiller halts entirely for a long moment. He's already met one person from his universe, but- this is far more than he expected.]
Tell me more of this Obi-Wan, other information can wait.
( ah - so this man knows of obi-wan, or perhaps just recognizes the culture from which the name originates. there's a pause as he carefully chooses his words. )
Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived a couple of months before myself. Aside from the aforementioned event, he has actively spoken against the Fog God and her followers throughout my time here.
We parted on unfavorable terms and I'm admittedly not yet able to discuss him as objectively as I would prefer, so I hesitate to elaborate further.
Nothing you say would offend me, he and I are far from friends.
[Obi-Wan doesn't even know he exists, but he's certainly on the "list of people to kill" if he ever crossed paths with him. But now, here? After being betrayed by the one whose orders he would be fulfilling? It feels so... pointless.]
The information you have given me in regards to Kenobi is appreciated, I will look somewhere else for information on him later.
( whether or not this man and obi-wan are friends, xingchen is doing his best to provide information, not opinion. and so he does indeed return to the previous questions, which prove quite a bit simpler. )
For a sword, Tsukikage can be contacted privately just as I have contacted you. His private channel is (pretend xingchen gave the numbers, i'm linking his inbox instead )
And yes, Mana is that very same witch. She can do far more than summon items. A companion of mine received a perfect duplicate of his familial home at a location of his choosing, and others are known to have had their monstrous forms altered by Mana to be more suited to their liking.
Yes, the Fog God is she who brought us here, and in turn, she who inflicts a monstrous state upon each of us at the start of our second month within this realm. Her followers are not inherently hostile, but they are quite thoroughly indoctrinated by the belief that we have all been bestowed a gift for which we should graciously thank her in worship. This, understandably, sits quite poorly with those who aren't especially fond of said gift or its involuntary nature.
Regarding safe residence, I myself reside in the forest between Bavan and Lake Minska to the south. By my understanding, Vandare (to Bavan's southwest) is closer in size to Bavan than the smaller towns elsewhere on the peninsula, and a segment of it is quite friendly to our kind. If you seek a well-accommodated location to gain your footing in this realm, I think that Vandare is perhaps your best bet.
< xiao.xingchen > do you see why this follow-up took so long LMAO

By all means, carry on with the rest.
